We moved house last week and still haven't finished unpacking because I have been really busy, as usual, with the cakes.
Last week I made a cake in the shape of an Aston Martin to be delivered to the Hilton Deansgate for a birthday celebration. the cake was silver on a black iced cake board and looked fantastic. But what was so amazing about this cake was the fact that it had LED lights for the headlights. There was a switch on the side of the cake board and when flipped the lights came on. It was so cool.
This is the first cake I have been asked to make with working parts in it and I have to say it was a challenge but a complete success.
As I have been so busy with packing my old house and unpacking at the new house that I haven't had the time to upload any pictures of this and many other cakes from the last 2 weeks, I have been neglecting my website. Over the next couple of days I will find the time to post the picture of the Aston Martin.
The house we have moved to has a large, tree-lined pond at the bottom of the garden and as I type this I can hear the ducks on it quacking. Yesterday there was a moorhen and apparently there are crested newts and toads, I hope to see these in the spring. When the weather warms up I will enjoy taking a break from the baking to sit by the pond and enjoy the wildlife.
In the meantime Christmas bekons and I still have unpacking to do and my Christmas tree to put up. Perhaps my kids will help!
