Slovenian cream cake - what a delight.
This is the most famous cake in Slovenia, it is sold in all the cafes and restaurants and you must try it. It is absolutely delicious but extremely filling, I was unable to finish it, it is better to share a piece. Everywhere we went in Slovenia we saw it advertised, they really love their cream cake. I have to agree it was light and fluffy and topped with a layer of sweet flakey pastry. It is a little like a vanilla slice only much better.
They also have a national gingerbread which is rather special too and these are covered with a shiny red glaze and decorated with the most beautiful hand piping.
