This cake was made for a wedding in Cheshire last weekend.

Spherical cakes are not easy to do, but to make a whole series of them and then stack them on top of each other and expect them to stay there whilst transporting them to the venue is a disaster waiting to happen.

However after nights without sleep worrying I finally realised that the Victorians had it right.

Over engineer it !

There is a  a central pole attached to the cake board and each cake has a hollow cake dowel through it which just slides over the pole. The solution was simple but not immediately apparent. Anyway I got there in the end and I have to say the end result was superb. This cake is beautiful. The bride and groom a lovely couple and I'm sure they enjoyed their day.
